Hello, and welcome to my public journal! It's about 60% public and 40% friends only. I'll add pretty much anyone, just drop me a line in a comment. All I really need to know is where you found me/how you know about my journal but feel free to add other information.

On hiatus indefinitely. A lot of changes are happening, so I don't have a lot of time to go online, but I'll try to post as much as I can.

It's hard to believe my arms actually feel tired from holding the camera for long periods of time. But then again, I hold really tightly because I'm using the reverse lens technique and I don't want the lens to slip and I have shaky hands.

So I'm finally updating! My last exam was two Thursdays ago and I just needed time to sort of relax and take time off. I think my exams were okay, I'm not confident enough to say I aced them and I don't want to jinx myself. I just hope I was able to scrape by and the university will accept me... although I'm on the fence about university, I don't know if I really want to go or not. I just want to experience life some more before settling down again to study and what not.

As for photography, I've taken a lot of photos and have arranged a photoshoot with a model in August (hopefully that'll work out... it was supposed to be this month)! Meanwhile, a friend of mine was kind enough to model for me, so I've gotten a lot of practice and done lots of crazy things to get nice photos. She and I have been scouting for locations and that includes going into large pipes, wandering down through thorny bushes, climbing over barnacle-covered rocks, and the likes. I also got a really bad sunburn five days ago and I'm still kind of red and my skin feels leathery. I also got some sort of gross bug bite with huge blisters. WHY?

In other news, I'll be getting my own camera soon! For those who don't know, I've been borrowing my friend's Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 since October. I've decided to get the Canon EOS 400D and even that's sort of stretching my budget. I can fit it with dad's old Nikon lenses and I'm going to get the 50mm f/1.8 lens and skip the 18-55mm kit lens altogether.

On to the interesting stuff!

I'd really appreciate some critique, especially on the portraits since I'm new to people and portraiture.

I love cherry blossoms, I think they're so precious because of their delicate form, frailty, and 3-week life span. I went out at lunch and took some quick photos of them before I forget and they start falling off.

I'll post the Hamlet photos after I hand in and get my project back; I'm afraid my teacher will see the photos on the internet and then think I stole them.

It was sunny for the first time this Spring and I had a spare, so I went out and took some photos! Sorry about the big ugly, obtrusive watermark. I'm increasingly paranoid about people stealing my photos (even though I don't think I'm even at the stage where people even care to rip) because I've seen it happen to so many artists. Anyway... photos with ugly watermarks ahoy!

Here's a summary of the photos below the cuts...

Although I always have new photos, I feel like I'm not growing anymore as a photographer. I keep reproducing the same shots, which look nice... but I want to something more and something that is at a new level. I want to wow myself like I used to. My lack of growth or slow growth is kind of scaring me right now, I really don't want this to be the end; I know it's not, but it's a fear.

Any suggestions on new things I could try with photography?

So, I thought I should address the post made in [info]ljstopmodel about me after I was banned because the situation has been brought both to my personal LJ and this one in the form of comments saying that my photography sucked and that I was bitter. Had a friend not informed me of the existance of the post, I would have never known about it at all. In addition, I thank them for standing up on my behalf even though it resulted in the deletion of their comments and banning from further commenting. Thanks, guys.

The following are my first and final words on the whole situation:

After LNTM, I did photoassault. Photoassault really opened my eyes to what I could do photography-wise and inspired me, made me realize that I could take my photography to a professional level and really pursue this as a career option. As a result, I decided that I needed a new start for myself because to me, this is huge big exciting part of my life because I've spent my whole life not knowing what I really want to do and to want something career-wise is pretty big for me. I was and still am creating a new portfolio, watermarking, and basically representing myself with the best stuff. I wanted Tiffany and "Fading Visions" to be the best and have the best work I could possibly create. The LNTM photos are also connected with my name and in my strive to have only the best connected with me, I thought that those didn't represent me as a photographer and model (as I occassionally do self-portraits with my lack of time and resources to find models to shoot with). I didn't think it would be a problem for Shannon to take them down, since I did only a few challenges and there were no specifications that said once they were up, they were up forever. If there were those specific requirements, I would have definately respected them; I never mean to trouble anyone. I was under the impression that I entered freely and was free to withdraw because in past cycles, models had had their photos taken down. I left a comment in the "Towny" challenge post:

Hi Shannon, I was wondering if you could take down all my stuff from LNTM. I'm taking a step in my life to pursue photography more seriously and I don't think those photos should come up, should my name or username be searched. I don't want to be misrepresented as a photographer because my friend took my LNTM photos and I just want the best work connected to my name/usernames.

Thanks,
Tiffany ♥

I didn't get a reply, though, so I thought maybe she didn't get my message and left another one in her journal. This was her response:

I took down your porfolio page. I'm not going to go back and edit past entries if that's what you mean.. You submitted them knowing they would go up on lntm permanently. I highly doubt they will turn up on any search engines or whatever it is you're worried about.

She said she wasn't going to take them down and I felt that her response was generally rude with an slight air of arrogance. So, I didn't feel like I had any other choice but to go for copyright violation because I felt like she wasn't going to work with me. I thought hard about the decision, it wasn't easy for me to just go file the report and it wasn't a stage that I wanted to get to at all. I thought it would be a simple thing without any sort of complications and I would make a post in the chat that she could link to explaining why my photos were gone.

I have nothing at all against LNTM or Shannon and I don't hate her or anything at all. Hating people just isn't what I do because I don't need to add to the amount of hate that is already in the world; If I came off that way, it was really not my intention at all and I apologize because that's not who I am at all. Shannon is amazing at graphics and organizing and the time and effort and dedication she put into LNTM is phenomenal. Sometimes, I just feel that she can be rude and needs to handle things more professionally. I, too, am sad that LNTM will be finishing (as far as we know) because I really enjoyed it especially this boys cycle. As I said, I never expected or wanted this to get to this point; Shannon and I just couldn't work it out. I saw her as being rude and someone I couldn't work with and she probably saw me as annoying and giving her extra work and backing out and being bitter about elimination.

My intention was never to cause drama and there was no bitterness at all. I would have never pushed for the removal of the photos if it wasn't important to me. The situation is probably just as or more stressful for her than it is for me. I think that it's time for me to move on and not have to deal with this situation anymore.

...but, I'm a lazy person. I don't always have the patience for manual because some things needs need to be photographed before they move (i.e. animals, which are so frustrating to photograph sometimes). Since I'm on Spring Break, hopefully I can update more and of course, have tons of new photos.

I say "New" just because nobody has seen them yet. They're taken the same time I did the landscape challenge for PA.

I'll try to post some interesting things later, but right now I'm so bogged down my schoolwork, it's not even funny. My teachers decided that two big unit tests this week would be a great idea.
